Many Desis have made Puerto Rico their home, traveling not only from neighboring North American regions but directly from their native countries. Their move not only strengthens the Indo-Puerto Rican political ties but also fosters economic opportunities and investments in Puerto Rico. While the Puerto Rican community has warmly embraced their new neighbors and the delightful introduction of South Asian cuisines, there remains a limited awareness of the rich history, arts, culture, and customs that the Desi community brings. The mission of PRDesi Cultural and Education Organization (PRDesi CEO) is two-fold: 1. Cultural Integration: To bridge this knowledge gap by promoting South Asian culture through mediums like films, music, art exhibitions, history conferences, educational programs, and other artistic presentations. By doing so, we aspire to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation between both communities, leading to stronger ties and collaborations. 2. Community Engagement and Development: Beyond cultural exchanges, we aim to work hand-in-hand with government agencies, other non-profit organizations, and the larger community to address pressing challenges and contribute positively to the society we all share. |
